Exercise Tip of the Week: Take a 5-10 Minutes Warm Up or Cool Down

Did you know? Warm ups are very important because they get your muscles ready for any activity you’re performing. On the other hand, cooldowns are crucial as they lower your heart rate and breathing and relax your muscles from your physical activity intensity.

Try to do a 5-10 minutes warm-up and cool down during martial arts practice or any workout. It will help you prevent injury, maintain your mobility and flexibility. It just takes 5-10 minutes to gradually raise your heart rate at the beginning of your practice and lower it afterward.

Here are some great warm up and cool down exercises to do:

Warm up:

-Neck exercise
-Push-ups
-Shoulder exercise
-Leg stretching
-Two-man exercise

Cool down:

-Chair stretching
-Doorway stretching
-Neck stretching
-Overhead arm stretching
-Side-lying stretching

Warm up and cool down exercises are an integral part of any martial art training and workout so make sure you do them before and after your practice.
